  As we all know, clouds are formed by the water in rivers, lakes, seas, soils, animals and plants, evaporating into the air, becoming water vapor, and then entering the atmosphere. In fact, the cloud is made up of many small droplets. It covers most of the earth’s surface, blocking sunlight from reaching the earth and cooling the earth. For us, the cloud is indispensable.
  However, climate warming is already an indisputable fact. The change in the atmospheric environment has brought about a significant change-the number of clouds has decreased significantly. As a result, the scientific researchers have rightly turned their attention to cloud research. They have launched simulation experiments one after another, hoping to find ways to improve the reduction of clouds.
  There are many types of clouds. At present, scientists are most interested in stratocumulus clouds, mainly because it has the strongest cooling effect on the earth. Experts have run models through supercomputers and found that stratocumulus clouds may disappear if the carbon dioxide content in the atmosphere triples.
  In 2018, climate dynamicist Tapio Schneider of the California Institute of Technology began to build a new model “climate machine”. The model uses artificial intelligence to simulate eddy currents and learn from satellite observations to improve the rendering of simulated clouds.
  Schneider’s original intention to establish a “climate machine” was because of the “unpredictable” nature of the cloud. Clouds are formed by condensed water vapor and turbulent airflow. This process takes place at a very small scale and is too small to be directly simulated by the model. Only approximate values ​​can be used. In other words, even if the “climate machine” is already advanced and complex, it still can’t deal with the cloud.
  In order to better understand clouds, Schneider first established his own vortex simulation, allowing it to interact with the ocean dynamically while trying to simulate changes in clouds to accelerate climate warming, and let climate warming accelerate changes in clouds.
  Finally, Schneider and the team achieved effective results, with the same results as other previous studies: if no measures are taken to prevent climate warming, the low cloud people will soon disappear. By then, the crocodiles are swimming in the Arctic and the equator is burnt. These tragedies will be inevitable.
  However, Schneider’s research is not impeccable, different voices have always sounded around him. For example, although the experimental conclusion is reliable, it is not novel. The carbon dioxide concentration set in the experiment is higher than that set by most climate scientists. Some people say that his method is not rigorous, the model is too simple, and the weather and noise are not considered. And other factors, even climate scientists commented that Schneider’s approach was too far-fetched.
  Faced with doubt, Schneider checked all the reasons that might make the results wrong, and finally ruled them out one by one. Next, he wanted to do a bolder thing, that is, to extrapolate the result that can only represent one location where the cloud layer may disappear, to all areas covered by similar stratocumulus clouds. In fact, Schneider has a persistent side, there are also low-key side, he said: “We should not be overly confident in the model can predict the future of the 22 century, there may be other factors not included in the model.”
