What are wisdom teeth?
Speaking of wisdom teeth, this special tooth only grows after the age of 18, and it is more common between the ages of 18 and 35. The eruption of wisdom teeth is often accompanied by pain. Why is this? First of all, a wisdom tooth is a tooth that slowly degenerates in our human evolution. In ancient times, human ancestors had wide jaws, and there were enough places for growth. But with the evolution, the jaws are not as wide as before, so wisdom teeth are often crooked, the gums against the upper jaw are always uncomfortable, and they will repeatedly become inflamed. So when we go to the hospital for an examination, the doctor will probably recommend removal of wisdom teeth when they see it. Because wisdom teeth themselves do not participate in the chewing function, they have no substantial effect on the human body. Although there will be wounds after removal, they will heal soon, and the recovery period will not have a great impact on life. Therefore, removing wisdom teeth as soon as possible can avoid unnecessary pain in the future.
What is permanent tooth?
Oral permanent teeth can be divided into four categories according to their functions: incisors, canines, premolars, and molars.
(1) Incisor, also known as incisor. Located in the front of the oral cavity, there are eight left, right, top, and bottom teeth. The crown of the adjacent teeth is wedge-shaped, the neck is thick and the margin is thin. Its importance is self-evident, it is the facade of our mouth. And play a role in biting food, speech pronunciation and so on in the mouth.
(2) Fangs, commonly known as “huya”. Located at the corner of the mouth, there are a total of four teeth on the left, right, top, and bottom. They are a very important type of tooth in the dentition relationship. Can play the role of supporting the mouth corners, play the function of tearing food. Moreover, the root of this tooth is the longest of all our teeth. How long we can see this tooth with the naked eye, then its root is twice as long as the tooth. It is deeply buried in our bones and is particularly strong. If this tooth is accidentally missing, it will cause the corners of the mouth to collapse and make the face look aging.
(3) Premolars are located behind the canines and before the molars. A total of eight teeth are left, right, top, and bottom, and the crowns are cubic. Among all the teeth, this kind of teeth is relatively weak in functionality and importance. It mainly assists the canine teeth to tear food and assists the molars to chew food. If young people or children have irregular teeth, particularly crowded and need to be extracted, one of them can be removed to increase the gap and make the teeth lined up neatly. This practice is currently widely used in orthodontics.
(4) Molar teeth, located behind the bicuspid teeth. The crown is large and cubic. There are a total of eight such teeth on the left, right, top and bottom, which are what we often call big teeth, posterior teeth. It can better help us to grind food in the process of eating and chewing food, which is especially important for our health. Among them, the first molar is known as the “six-year-old tooth”, which is the first permanent tooth that we grow when we were six years old when we were children. It is known as the key to the occlusal relationship between teeth.
Tooth quality is closely related to overall health
According to the “Third Oral Disease Epidemiological Survey Report”, the prevalence of oral diseases in my country is as high as 97.6%, and the proportion of adults with unhealthy teeth is even higher, and only 0.22% meet the oral health standard. It can be seen that many people sneer at the importance of teeth and lack the awareness of tooth protection and do not pay attention to oral health. As everyone knows, teeth are the forerunners of our digestive system. A good tooth can not only help us chew and grind food better when eating, it is also conducive to gastrointestinal digestion.
According to a research conducted by the Japanese Dental Institute, tooth chewing is not only related to the brain, but also related to Alzheimer’s. Long-term chronic periodontitis increases the risk of Alzheimer’s disease (commonly known as Alzheimer’s disease). Moreover, compared with healthy people, middle-aged and elderly people with Alzheimer’s disease have only one-third of the average number of teeth, and the proportion of their original teeth is very low, and their frequency of using dentures is only that of healthy elderly people. Half. It can be seen that as many middle-aged and elderly people grow older, even if their teeth are loose or fall, they do not increase their awareness of protection.
The World Health Organization (WHO) put forward an “8020” standard in 2001, that is, 80-year-old people should have at least 20 functional teeth to ensure the body’s normal diet. However, my country is a developing country. In the early days of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, a hundred wastes were waiting to be developed. After ten years of catastrophe and natural disasters, many people believed that they could maintain their health by eating enough. However, with the reform and opening up and rapid economic development, China has become the world’s second largest economy after the 21st century. The quality of life of its citizens has greatly improved, and the demand for health has become increasingly urgent.
And teeth are not only related to a person’s appearance, but also to a person’s health. Whether it is a developing child or a motivated adult, without a good set of teeth, even if there are delicacies of mountains and seas in front of them, it is difficult to swallow and tasteless. For middle-aged and elderly people, we should advocate the three good things: sleep well, health, and eat well. Among them, if you want to eat well, you must have good teeth. Therefore, keeping teeth clean is a daily task; regular inspection and washing of teeth is a long-term good habit; early detection and early treatment of tooth problems are more conducive to becoming a big health winner. It is very important to keep healthy real teeth. Tooth extraction means amputation. Except for wisdom teeth and some deformed teeth, all teeth should be cherished!
