Niya fish lake in the Taklimakan Desert

The depths of the desert are picturesque, and the lake is full of fish, which sounds like a legend. However, in Minfeng County on the southern edge of the Taklimakan Desert, there is really a Niya fish lake, which is called “Bileklik” in Uighur, meaning “where there is fish”.
Minfeng County is called “Niya” in ancient times. It belongs to the Hetian area of Xinjiang. It is the place where the country of the thirty-six countries in the Western Region of the Tang Dynasty is located. According to the records of Han Shu·Western Biography, there are 480 households and 3,360 people in the country, which is similar to a village in the present. Before the very hot “Ghost Blowing the Light of the Ancient City”, the ancient city is the place.
The Taklimakan Desert is about 1000 kilometers long from east to west and 400 kilometers wide from north to south. It is the second largest mobile desert in the world. There are lakes in such places, no wonder people will blink their eyes and suspect that they have seen the mirage.
The fish lake in the northern foot of the Kunlun Mountains is northwest-south-eastward and has a crescent moon shape, so the locals gave it a poetic name, Moon Lake. The Fish Lake consists of five small lakes, arranged in order from north to south. If it continues, it is like a string of blue stones embedded in the desert. The largest of these is the Four Lakes, which are long strips, about 10 kilometers long, and extend to the desert in the north. The most beautiful is the two lakes, there are sweet water springs by the lake, the water is sweet and sweet, and according to experts, it belongs to the highest quality mineral water. It is said that Tang Xuanzhao passed through this place when he was taking the Western Heaven. He once drank the water of the sweet water spring.
The fish lake is a water belt, and it is slender, so it is a desert river, which is a river that flows slowly and slowly sucks it by the sand. In fact, the fish lake is not a river. It will neither flow away nor be drained by the desert. Despite being in a hot, burning desert, it has a stable water level throughout the year and minimal interannual changes.
It is understood that the total length of the fish lake is more than 20 kilometers, 1.2 to 2 kilometers wide, and the area is 24.6 square kilometers. The average lake depth is 13 meters and the maximum lake depth is 45 meters. Don’t look at the famous Crescent Moon Spring under the Mingsha Mountain in Dunhuang. Its average water depth is only 4.2 meters and the area is less than 1 square kilometer. Compared with the volume of the fish lake, it is really a small witch.
The lake of Yuhu Lake is clear and salty. There are many fish in the lake. There are mainly carp, carp, grass carp and Wuchang fish, among which the most are wild carp. What is more valuable is that there are a small number of fish species unique to Xinjiang, such as bighead fish, Joeltai, Wudaohe, and diced fish. It is said that in many places in the north and south of the Tianshan Mountains, these fish species have long since disappeared.
For more than a thousand years, the fish lake has not been buried by the quicksand, and it has not dried up due to drought, and it has become one of the wonders of the world. For the reasons for the formation of fish lakes, many people are puzzled: What is the source of water for the 10,000-mu fish lake? In this extremely dry area where evaporation is much greater than precipitation this year, how can the water level of the fish lake remain unchanged throughout the year?
It turns out that the water in the fish lake comes from countless springs. The Niya fish lake belongs to the lake of the fan of the water. There is a huge amount of groundwater under the Taklimakan Desert. The Niya Fish Lake is the appearance of this groundwater, and its water source is mainly supplied by spring water overflowing from the edge of the fan.
Strolling through the fish lake, the blue lake, the green plants and the golden sand dunes are colorful and full of poetry. Flying sand and gravel, birds and flowers, these two words that are not allowed in the water, but they are perfectly combined by nature, you have to marvel at the endless charm of nature.
